I took this pic the other day when I woke up. It was probably 7:10 am or so. It was so beautiful. You would have to be crazy to think that this world was made by random chance. What a wonderful Creater we have.

Hey excuse the title, I had a sudden country outbreak ( I say it like it's a disease becuase it is). For Christmas I got the Martha Stewart Cooking School book ( I really wanted it, I love cooking but I am not really gifted in that way, lol). So I decided to try some new things on my cooking night (which is tonight, Tuesday). I decided to stick with my German roots and make wiener schnitzel. I also wanted sweet potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus I steamed, then marinated in a ginger-soy vinaigrette. It was really good and extremely easy.

GINGER-SOY VINAIGRETTE

1 1/2 t Fresh ginger, finely grated

1 t Soy sauce

2 T Rice wine vinegar

Salt and pepper

1/4 cup plus 2 T Sunflower oil
Thinly sliced scallions

My family really liked it. I replaced the sunflower oil with canola, what can I say? I am a rule breaker.So the wiener schnitzel was also good but it scared me really bad... There I was, standing in the kitchen, cute and innocent as ever.. It was about 5:15 pm. Not a time you would expect something frightening to occur. Okay, maybe I am being a little dramatic. What happened is the grease kind of went mental and I was splattered multiple times. I don't know why it took it all out on me! It made quite the mess. But it was worth it. I tried to get a pic of the boiling oil but it was sort of trying to kill me at the time.

I was trying to do a lot at once so my mom made the sweet potatoes for me. She's so sweet:) I got this one that had a smiley face.Isn't it cute?

Last night Dad and I went shopping at Walmart for Mom. It was so funny, when we went to get some peanut butter I grabbed Adam's(my mom likes the healthy kind that gets separated and nasty) and threw it in the cart. Then Dad spotted the peanut butter/jelly stuff that I can't believe any one would ever make (do you remember green and purple ketchup? I REFUSED to ever eat that and I don't see how this is any different). This is the coversation that follows:

Dad: Honey, did you see this?! It's both peanut butter and jam!

Me: Dad, we don't need it.

Dad: But it's both! Somebody was really thinking.

(I, of course, was thinking, "How could anyone in their right mind invent something like that?")

Me: Dad, you are a slave to advertising!

Dad: Fine, Mom.

It was hilarious. Dad is so cute:) We ended up just getting Adam's peanut butter. Which I am getting used to by the way. It's not completely repulsive anymore;) We also got unhealthy, sugary cereal (I love Dad shopping!).

Some things I deeply care for...

This is a list of things that I own, that I love. They aren't necessarily listed in order, and these are not things I love most in life or anything, they are just some random things I love.

1. Chapstick
These are just the ones from beside my bed and in my purse and stuff.

2. My hats

I love them both. I named the dog one Spot becuase when my Dad first saw it he said, "Hey, isn't that Spot the dog?" I have no idea what dog he was reffering to but it was funny.

3. My mom's Mexico purse
When my mom was in 3rd grade her parents got it for her when they went to Mexico.
4. Lotion


A lot of people hate lotion but I love it. This is just my stash.

5.Coffee
I love coffee so much. Hopefully I shall be a barista some day... (I took this pic on my phone so I could edit it, my phone is amazazing. And I know it is coffee flavors, but it is related to coffee and I wanted to use the picture so give me a break.)
6.My promise ringI got this ring with my cousins on some dock in Seattle a long time ago. It's very special to me. I have probably lost is 20 times in the last couple of years. But now I never take it off so I never lose it! Except to take this picture, but that's different matter entirely.

7. My Olivia the Pig journal!I love Olivia. She is so cute! Whenever the little one rents Olivia books I always steal them and read them. My favorite one is where Olivia forms a band. It's great.

8.Our typewriterA while ago Kynsie and I got this old typewriter at a garage sale. We just use it as a decoration, but every now and then I get it out and just type for fun.

I love many other things, but these are the things I just saw when I looked around and I realized that maybe I wasn't giving them the praise they deserved;) There is still duct tape, Corner Gas, poker, monopoly....

Is this healthy?

Today Lulu got up while Mom and I were doing Pilates and announced that she wanted to go swimming for her birthday (which isn't until June). So she got in her swim suit. She is like me in that way, she has no idea what season it is. I could wear shorts and a tank top everyday...
So anyway, later I was doing math and she started dumping out all her dress-up clothes in the school room. Mom's like, "Why are you getting those out again?" (We had just picked them up). She didn't say anything and proceeded to take them out. She then hopped inside the box. It was quite remarkable. I ran to my room and got my camera.

It was amazing. She is so flexable!

Salty Caramel Cocoa

When I tried making the salty caramel cocoa stuff (after reading Rebecca's post) it looked like this

But don't judge a book by its cover. It tasted really good. Thanks for the inspiration Rebecca:) I will work on making it a little prettier next time. lol.

Oh, and by the way (becuase I am sure you all care), I whistled yesterday! I have never been able to until now! Well until yesterday. I don' t know how I did it becuase I can't do it today. Wait let me try... sorry just wait a minute... I just did it!!!!! Wow, you just have to like blow not to hard and well you probably already know. This is like a whole new world to me.

IT'S RAINING! *surprise and shock*

Who would have thought that it would rain in Washington? I am for the first time loving the rain. I was so sick of coldness and snow. To show my appreciation for the warm weather (everything is relative, right?) I wore my shorts today.

This morning at like 8:30 Dad, Darrell, and I went out in the truck to see all the damage the rain had caused. Keep in mind this was this morning, it's even worse now.This trailer is like a few streets away from us. I feel really bad for the owners.

We went to the Ayres' house to see if they needed help or anything. Their yard (except for their driveway) was completely covered in water. This is it

I guess I talk about Corner Gas a lot. I am sure that no one knows what is, that is why I have decided to write about the amazing world of Corner Gas.

Corner Gas is a Canadian sitcom about a small farming community, Dog River, in Saskatchewan (it is filmed only a couple hours away from where I was born). The main characters are Lacey, Brent, Oscar, Hank, Wanda, Karen, Davis, and Emma. Mostly it is about how little things are big deals when there isn't much to do. The quotes are endless and Kynsie and I could probably recite every episode. lol.

I can never decide who is my favorite character becuase they all are so unique and the show wouldn't be the same without any of them. Hank is one of my favorites though, he is the town idiot. Maybe it's just that he makes me feel good about myself:)

Okay, so you know how for a while everyone said things like, "He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer," or any of the other ways of phrasing it? Well I think the most hilarious one is, "He's not the brightest pencil in the shed." I mean, how random is that? It is totally and completely wrong. The other one I love is something that Oscar says on Corner Gas. "It's not rocket surgery."

The main point of this post (my writing for school keeps emphasizing that papers must have an overall point, which I happen to lack most of the time) is just to say that although I often say a saying completely wrong, usually it's on purpose. I started thinking the other day that people who don't know me must think that I am either slow, or an idiot. So just keep that in mind next time we are talking and I say the title of this post to you.

My love for smoothies is deeper than most.

I love smoothies. Today I woke up at 7:30 and decided to hit the snooze button. So I "snoozed" until 9 and was like, "Wow, has it still not been 10 minutes?" I have no track of time when I sleep. Turns out I hit the off button instead of the snooze one. Oh well. So anyway I got up and was about to take a shower when Lu saw me and said in a cute little voice, "Rachy, you make smoothie for me?" I couldn't resist. So these were my smoothie steps:

I am completely in love with our Vita Mix. If any of you are thinking about it I must say it is a worth while investment. But enough with my lame advertisements. Today it consisted of blueberries, strawberries, a banana, mandarins, peaches, flax seed, milk, and mangos. Mmmm... Sometimes I add sour cream, but usually that sort of creeps people out. It is really good though. It just tastes like plain yogurt.
